Estate Planning
Estate planning, made clear.
Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives for individuals and families in Placerville, El Dorado County, and the greater Sacramento area. Thoughtful, personal, and free of jargon.
It does not have to be overwhelming.
Planning your estate can feel like a daunting task, but the fear of the unknown is usually worse than the reality. My job is to make it simple. We talk through your wishes in plain language, I handle the legal work, and you come away knowing your family and your wishes are protected.
What I help with
Wills - A clear statement of who receives what, and who you trust to carry out your wishes.
Revocable living trusts - Keep your affairs private and help your family avoid the cost and delay of probate.
Powers of attorney - Name someone you trust to handle financial matters if you are unable to.
Advance healthcare directives - Put your medical wishes in writing and choose who speaks for you.
Planning for minor children - Name guardians and decide how assets are managed for them until they are grown.
Planning for pets - Make sure the animals who depend on you are cared for.
Trust funding and updates - Make sure your plan actually works, and keep it current as your life changes.
Why work with me
I have practiced law for more than 25 years, and I treat your plan with the same care I would want for my own family. You work directly with me, not a paralegal or a call center. I keep things personal and direct, I explain every document in language that makes sense, and I am here when something changes down the road.
How it works
Consultation. We meet, at no charge, to talk about your family, your assets, and your goals.
Design. I recommend a plan that fits your situation and explain your options clearly.
Documents and signing. I prepare your documents, review them with you, and we complete the signing properly.
Funding and follow-up. For trusts, I help make sure your assets are titled correctly, and I am available to update your plan as life changes.
Most estate plans are handled for a flat, agreed fee, so you know the cost before we begin.
